So often, we confuse ourSELVES with the bodies we inhabit, the thoughts we think, and the things we feel.
If we're feeling sad, we say, "I AM sad."
If we've skipped the gym for a few days and enjoyed more than a few extra calories, we think, "I AM fat."
Those who go to church may think, "I AM Christian." Those who worship in a synagogue or temple say, "I AM Jewish." Still others might say they ARE atheist or agnostic.
Maybe we identify with our behaviors. We begin to wear our actions as if they were part of us. We've all fallen into the trap of thinking, "I am such a loser/liar/cheater/crybaby". On the flip side, we might identify too strongly with our achievements. It feels nice to say, "I am a winner/leader/boss".
Do any of these things really define you? Do you want to be defined by these things?
